We have multiple Hones furnaces available and can provide units configured for the buyer's required fuel type.
MATERIAL / ALLOY APPLICATIONS
These furnaces are commonly used for melting and maintaining casting temperature of materials including:
- Lead
- Tin
- Pewter
- Zinc
- Zamak / ZA Zinc-Based Casting Alloys
- Lead-Based Casting Alloys
- Tin-Based Casting Alloys
- Other Compatible Low-Melting-Point Non-Ferrous Alloys
Maximum Temperature: Approximately 950°F
Actual operating temperature and furnace suitability depend upon the specific alloy, casting process, pot loading, and production requirements.
ZINC & ZAMAK CASTING APPLICATIONS
In addition to lead and pewter casting, these Hones furnaces are well suited for many zinc and Zamak alloy casting applications.
Zamak is a family of zinc-based casting alloys commonly containing zinc with aluminum, magnesium, and copper additions. These alloys are widely used for producing detailed cast components because of their excellent casting characteristics.
Potential applications include:
- Zamak Castings
- Zinc Hardware
- Buckles
- Decorative Components
- Small Industrial Parts
- Emblems & Medallions
- Hardware Components
- Novelty Products
- Zinc-Based Production Castings
- Other Compatible Non-Ferrous Cast Components
This gives the Hones furnace excellent versatility beyond fishing tackle production and makes it useful for lead, pewter and zinc-alloy casting operations.
IDEAL FOR FISHING TACKLE MANUFACTURING
The Hones furnace is particularly well suited for manufacturers producing:
- Fishing Jig Heads
- Lead Sinkers
- Fishing Weights
- Bucktail Jig Heads
- Bank Sinkers
- Egg Sinkers
- Pyramid Sinkers
- Bullet Weights
- Specialty Fishing Weights
- Lead Components
- Pewter Components
- Zinc / Zamak Components
For fishing tackle manufacturers looking to increase production beyond individual aluminum hand-pour molds, a Hones melting furnace can become an important part of a complete centrifugal spin casting production system.

PARTLOW TEMPERATURE CONTROL
This furnace is equipped with a Partlow industrial temperature control system.
The thermocouple monitors the temperature of the furnace / molten metal and provides feedback to the temperature control system.
The gas supply is automatically regulated to maintain the selected operating temperature, reducing the need for constant manual burner adjustment and helping maintain more consistent casting conditions throughout production.
Consistent molten-metal temperature is particularly important in spin casting because excessive temperature variation can affect:
- Mold Filling
- Metal Flow
- Casting Detail
- Cycle Consistency
- Flash
- Surface Finish
- Rubber Mold Life
INTEGRAL EXHAUST HOOD
Unlike a simple open melting pot, this Hones furnace incorporates a substantial galvanized exhaust hood and flue connection positioned directly above the melting pot.
The hood is designed to assist in capturing heat and process emissions at the furnace.
The exhaust stack can be connected to an appropriately engineered facility ventilation / exhaust system.
Buyer is responsible for determining and providing all ventilation, make-up air, combustion air, emissions control, and other safety systems required for the fuel and metal being processed and for compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
A KEY COMPONENT OF A COMPLETE SPIN CASTING SYSTEM
For manufacturers producing fishing tackle, jewelry, pewter components, and similar products, the melting furnace is one component of the overall spin casting process.
A typical production system may include:
1. RUBBER MOLD VULCANIZER
Used to manufacture the heat-cured rubber production mold.
2. MOLD FRAMES & MOLD-MAKING EQUIPMENT
Used to create and prepare the production molds.
3. CENTRIFUGAL SPIN CASTING MACHINE
Spins the finished rubber mold while molten metal is introduced into the center.
4. METAL MELTING FURNACE
Maintains the lead, pewter, tin, or compatible casting alloy at the proper pouring temperature.
5. FINISHING EQUIPMENT
Used for trimming, polishing, deburring, vibratory finishing, and preparing finished cast components.
